I am almost 40 years old (will be in April) and I’ve been thinking a lot on what my favorite COMPLETED fantasy series is. I’ve read the Twilight novels and Harry Potter series. So obviously, my favorite COMPLETED series of all time (so far) is Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Now, have I reread any of the books?? No, I have not. I own all the books and also the illustrated editions (which are gorgeous).

Now, if you’re asking if I’ve seen the movies…of course I have! To me, they follow the books quite well. Back when I was a teenager, Harry Potter was my obsession. To this very day, it still is. Harry Potter was actually the series that drove my love for fantasy novels. I love being in an alternative reality in my own mind away from the everyday stresses that is life.

NOW…the one uncompleted series that is my favorite has to be the Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. It feels like it has been forever since Dance with Dragons came out. Will I ever live to see the Winds of Winter come out? Or…will Martin still be alive when that novel comes to existence. The world may never know. But there’s something about this series that keeps me coming back. I love the action in the novels along with the character growth especially with Bran and Arya Stark. I will leave further discussion with these characters in another post.
